#3105 Budget Discussions

Illinois Lawmakers are talking about raising taxes by $5.4-billion while cutting $2.4-billion from state programs, but they’re running out of time to reach any agreement on the business-friendly reforms Governor Rauner wants before signing off on any new revenues.

On this week’s Illinois Lawmakers, Illinois Public Radio Statehouse Bureau Chief Amanda Vinicky joins host Jak Tichenor for an update of the week’s news from Springfield.  Next, Assistant House Majority Leader John Bradley (D) Marion and Assistant Senate Republican Leader Bill Brady of Bloomington discuss a new round of talks about specific items on the Governor’s agenda.  Later, Senator Dan Biss (D) Evanston and Representative Tom Demmer (R) Dixon talk about the difficulties rank and file lawmakers face in trying to end the state’s nearly one year old budget stalemate.
