#3011 - Fiscal Crisis Continues (Week 3)

The Illinois General Assembly has wrapped up its work for another week in Springfield and there’s still no sign of a budget agreement nearly three weeks into the state’s new fiscal year.

On this week’s Illinois Lawmakers, Illinois Public Radio Statehouse Bureau Chief Amanda Vinicky describes why the Democratic majorities in both Houses and Republican Governor Bruce Rauner remain deadlocked over his Turnaround Agenda and passing a new budget.  Later, host Jak Tichenor examines the fiscal crises with Sen. Heather Steans (D) Chicago and Sen. Pamela Althoff (R) McHenry, two of the Senate’s top budget experts.  Later, Rep. Elaine Nekritz (D) Northbrook and Rep. Tim Butler (R) Springfield describe how the lack of a budget is impacting Illinois residents including the proposed closing of the Illinois State Museum in Springfield.
