#3010 - Fiscal Crisis Continues

The Prairie State’s fiscal crisis worsens as Republican Governor Bruce Rauner and the Democratic majorities in the General Assembly remain deadlocked over a new spending plan for the state for the fiscal year that began on July first.

On this special summer overtime edition of Illinois Lawmakers, Deputy House Majority Leader Lou Lang (D) Skokie and Deputy House Republican Leader Patti Bellock (R) Hinsdale debate how their parties are working to maintain essential state services and meet the state’s payroll.  Later, Representative Mary Flowers (D) Chicago and Senator Jason Barickman (R) Bloomington discuss the how the budget impasse is impacting their districts in Chicago and East-Central Illinois.  Illinois Public Radio Statehouse Bureau Chief Amanda Vinicky and Illinois Lawmakers host Jak Tichenor bring viewers the latest from the Capitol.
